Theme: “Grace Carries Me”, “My grace is sufficient for you.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
Monday 10th May 2027
When we enter the creative process, we make space to slow down, become still and connect with God. Through prayer, reflection and creativity, we can begin to lay down some of the things we are carrying and receive God’s peace, love, hope and joy.
Kay Mason, founder and pioneer of Create Church and Create Art Ministry, offers this retreat as a time to step away from the busyness of everyday life and simply be with God.
Our theme, ‘Grace Carries Me’, is based on 2 Corinthians 12:9, “My grace is sufficient for you.” Through Christian mindfulness, gentle relaxation, prayer and creativity, we will explore what it means to trust that God’s grace is enough for us, even when we feel weak, uncertain or overwhelmed. Using watercolour, we will play with colour, texture and mark-making before tearing our painted papers and bringing the pieces together to create a beautiful mixed-media collage. As we create, we will reflect on the grace, strength, peace, love and hope that God gives us.
There will be a variety of art materials to explore and enjoy. On your first Create session, you will receive your own scrapbook to use during the day, take home and bring back to future sessions as a creative journal of your journey with God. This isn’t about producing a perfect piece of art. It’s about the process — slowing down, listening to God and enjoying his presence. You don’t need to consider yourself artistic or creative; I will guide and encourage you throughout the day.
After lunch, you can continue creating, enjoy the beautiful gardens at Holland House, or simply rest and be.
Come as you are, put down what you have been carrying for a while, and give yourself permission to receive.
All are welcome, whatever your age or creative ability.
10am–4pm, in a small group, including a two-course lunch and refreshments.
Please note that Holland House does not provide a choice menu at meal times and it is therefore very important that you note any food types that you are unable to eat due to an allergy or you can advise of a dietary preference of vegetarian, pescatarian, dairy free, gluten free or vegan.
*While we take steps to minimise the risk of cross-contamination, our kitchen handles ingredients that may contain allergens. Due to the fact that we do not have separate cooking or storage facilities for foods containing nuts, gluten etc… we therefore cannot guarantee any dish is completely allergen-free*
